Here’s a bit of the technical info: LifeGuard is a revolutionary carpet protection system in that it covers the entire product – from the carpet fibers all the way through to the carpet backing. On the face of the carpet is Shaw’s exclusive R2X stain and soil resistance system. Unlike conventional repellents that protect only the surface of the carpet, R2X provides complete carpet protection – from the top of the yarn to the bottom. With R2X, spills that reach the base of the yarn don’t penetrate the fibers. This provides superior initial stain protection and allows you more time to react when an accident occurs. Another significant benefit is that even after repeated cleanings, R2X continues to perform well. On the back of LifeGuard carpet, you also get a 100% thermoplastic commercial-grade backing. This highly water-resistant barrier literally keeps spills from soaking through the carpet and damaging the subfloor below.
